Fun-ish video here.

Pause to take a breath. Okay, back to it.

Another breath. OK, GO!

Thanks to Bill Curran, aka Racer-X, for the headsup.

Thanks to Thibault at Still in Rock for the headsup.

Song's not as oookie as the bandname suggests. Rather Tom Yummy, in fact. Click the down arrow to, like, download.

Are you okay? Have we posted enough this time? We know we've been a bit remiss at posting this year, so we're trying to atone. Did we? (Rhetorical questions, these.)

Bob of the Pops Pops Back In and, Like, WOW!

Yes, they've done it again! Messrs. Boryng Bison (aka Gyro Bobins, aka Robyn Gibson of Leicester band The Junipers) and Keith Klingensmith (of Futureman Records) have ginned up a third superb album of covers, all available for free download at Bandcamp. All thirteen songs on Free! Bob of the Pops Vol. 3 are simply terrific, but posted below are our very favorites. Our previous post on Free! Bob of the Pops Vols. 1 & 2 can be found here. Many thanks to Messrs. Gibson & Klingensmith for their abundant talents and for sparing us our precious few.

Faves of the Faves - July/August 2018: Dot Dash, The Speedways, Tired All The Time, Last Great Dreamers, Lisa Mychols, Summer Magic, The Chills, The Laissez Fairs, Ty Segall & White Fence, Sauropod, JEPH, Tony Molina, Straight Arrows, Shy Boys, Bad Moves, Baits, The Wit, Sonic Blume, Waves of Dread, The Feens, Ghosts/Signals

Below are our very favorite songfinds of powerpop, indiepop, janglepop, psychpop, and otherpop during the months of July and August. Playmoss continues to have "issues" with songs from Bandcamp, so we've put all of those at the bottom of the widget. Da 'Moss won't take SoundCloud at all, so we've put several of those in widgets at bottom of the post. The entire July 2018 and August 2018 playlists are on other pages at Playmoss. (Clicky clicky.)

We do hope you find some songs to like or love. As of post-time, the very first song in the Playmoss widget, Dot Dash's "Unfair Weather," is available for free download at Bandcamp. That Ghosts/Signals song is available for free download at SoundCloud. (Click the down arrow in the widget.)

As sometimes happens, Playmoss didn't provide all the info for a couple of songs, so here it is.

#2 - Dot Dash - TV - Radio
#11 - Sauropod - Ripping

Favorite Flavors from Ice Cream Man's Summer 2018 Compilation (Installment 3): Mythical Motors, Christopher Jameson, The Stone Lyons, Trip Wire, Golden Fang, The Sitting Tenants, Dave Sheinin, Tomas Nilsson, The Outryders, Mud Fox Tribe, The Brand New Luddites, Kurt Baker Combo

And now to the third and final installment of our favorite songs from Ice Cream Man Wayne Lundquist Ford's superduper Summer 2018 compilation, Songs We Learnt At Sundae School. So popular has this comp been that it has twice reached its quota for free downloads and been rescued by Futureman Records. You can of course pay for the whole LP or individual songs if you like, but if you want the free download, you will need to download all 163 numbers at once and then sort them out according to your own particular impeccable preferences. Many thanks to Wayne Lundquist Ford, Futureman Records, and the contributing artists. Previous posts in this and previous summers' comps can be found here.

(Some of you will be bitterly disappointed to find we are using larger widgets for individual songs, but here's why: when we used the smaller widgets, as in previous posts, the artist names did not appear, and we can't have that now, can we? Answer: we can but we don't want to.)

Something To Break Up The Intimidating Mass O' Widgets

Favorite Flavors from Ice Cream Man's Summer 2018 Compilation (Installment 2): Tommy Sistak, Vista Blue, Psychotic Youth, Empty Hours, PoP, Badass Mother Fuzzers, Gretchen's Wheel, Geoff Palmer, Kristofer Åström, Daniel Wylie's Cosmic Rough Riders, Pink Beam

Below is the second installment of songs we particularly liked in the recent monster (nice monster, fab monster) compilation by Ice Cream Man Wayne Lundquist Ford, Songs We Learnt At Sundae School. (See background information here in Installment 1). Once again we're putting the  FREELY DOWNLOADABLE full comp first, followed by our favorite songs. If you want to do the FREE DOWNLOAD of a particular song, click the songtitle to go to its download page at Bandcamp. Happy listening and grabbing and stuff. Once again, and OF COURSE, thanks, Wayne!!!

If, by the way, you find the compilation and songs are no longer available for free download at any of the links provided. you should still be able to do a free download courtesy of Futureman Records.

Pause to cool down (or up).

The inimitable Wayne Lundquist Ford, aka "Ice Cream Man," has done it again. For the fourth summer in a row, the tireless Cool One has put together a stellar compilation of powerpop, indiepop, janglepop, rockpop, and otherpop songs and made them available for free download at Bandcamp. We've been eagerly anticipating Songs We Learnt At Sundae School for months now and got right to sampling all 160+ as soon as we found them posted tonight. We're posting widgets of the entire compilation, plus our very favorite songs in two installments.

If you want to download the entire comp, click "Download" in the first widget below. To download any of our faves, clicking the song title will take you to its download page. To go to the Bandcamp page of the entire compilation, click here.

We would again like to thank Wayne for his effort, expertise, and generosity in making these excellent songs available. Thanks, too, to the artists who participated in the project. Be sure to check out Wayne's Ice Cream Man blog and give ear to podcasts of his excellent weekly radio show. You can check out our posts of the previous Ice Cream Man compilations here, here, here, and here.

Update, 1aug18: Free downloading of the entire compilation is now available courtesy of Futureman Records. (<==Clicky clicky.) If you click on the individual song titles below, the page you go to will show a fee until 8aug18. Many thanks to Futureman Records for stepping in to maintain free downloads.

Pause here to prevent brain freeze. Resume when ready.

Let Your Free Flag Fly: Monster Summer of '18 Extravagonzo of Psych

Monster, yes, but don't let that scare you. As we don't quite know what the future of this blog will be, we decided to go through our backlog of "songs in waiting" and offer up a bunch of our favorite psych songs for free and legal download. If this goes as planned, we might well do the same with some powerpop, indiepop, janglepop, etc., in the near future.

This post is built for speed (of posting), so we're eschewing extraneous comment (Hey, pp, all your "comment" is extraneous, so who're you trying to kid??? <== Hurtful, maan/womaan, hurtful.) and getting right to the business at hand. If you like a song and want to download it, clicking its title should take you to its Bandcamp download page. Further clicking at Bandcamp can usually take you to the home LP or EP from which the song comes, with more songs, Facebook and bandpage links, etc. available. We hope you'll find some songs to like, love, and own.

These finds come from many sources, but we'd especially like to pay tribute to Psychgazer for numerous clue-ins. You rock, maan/womaan!

BTW, the songs are in reverse chronological order, beginning with our most recent finds and stretching back to approximately May 2017. Actually, this isn't all the psych we've found, so we might do another monster psych thing someday.

Take a breather, maan/womaan; you've earned it.

New Soft One From FUR + A Fave from 2017

The Brighton lads' retroish "If You Know That I'm Lonely" was one of our very favorite songs of  November/December 2017, indeed for all of last year, and now they have a new one. Tracking down "What Would I Do?" led us to their SoundCloud vault, where we found that "Lonely" plus several earlier tunes are available for free download. Explore below, see what you think, and take it from there.

Faves from The Co-Op Communiqué Volume Four: The Well Wishers, Pseudonym, The Click Beetles, The John Sally Ride, Jonny Weathers, John T. McMullan, Wicked Immigrant

We recently received an emailed communique from Mr. Dw. Dunphy announcing the latest compilation of songs "to break the stalemate between an eager audience and the distribution channels that cannot come together." And break it he certainly does, and with a loud and very satisfying pop. You can read all about it at Bandcamp, but in the meantime, here are our very favorites from the latest, 57-song menu, all available for free download. We might mention that after sampling all 57 and noting our favorites, we found when it came time to post that some of the playing order had been changed. We hope the songs posted below conform to the list of artists we named in the postitle.

Dog Date Waise the Woof

Dog gone simian.

We bought some excelentes by this New Joisey band a couple of years ago but are quite grateful to Dr. Thibault Schrepel over at faveblog Still in Rock for the headsup on their latest release over at Bandcamp. Def got our tails waggin', and did we mention they're available for name-your-price download?

These first two are our favorites from their latest LP, Little Cowboy, just out on the June 1, 2018.

Then we went exploring, and oh, lordy, what a trove we found at last year's superb Flying Fortress! There's really no need to post individual widgies, as we loved #1, 2, 3, 4, 7, & 8 and vml'd (very much liked) #6. So have at it.

Burning House's Fanclubesque "Peach"

Most of Southampton band Burning House's songs at Bandcamp sound rather shoegazy, but their tags there also include the following: "power pop" and "powerpop." Their just-released juicy little number below proves they aren't kidding. Fans of Teenage Fanclub will most likely agree. So far, all of their songs at Bandcamp are available for name-your-price download, so get ye hence, an ye be willing/able.

We also very much like this Guided by Voices cover (originally authored neither by Mr. Pollard nor by Mr. Sprout, but by Mr. Doug Gillard).

And speaking of Mr. Gillard, we are very glad we bought this one several years ago.

Faves from Wassup Rocker Radio Comp: The Why Oh Whys, Lucy And The Rats, Private Function, Killer Hearts, Latte+, Stufft Crust, The Connection

Here are our favorites from the compilation, Wassup Rocker Radio Presents: Sick Sounds. All are available for Free Download. Many thanks to Faster and Louder blog for the headsup. We were most favorably affected by the more mellow songs, so if you wanta get more raucous, you'll find many opportunities to do so.

Here are our very favorite discoveries of powerpop, indiepop, psych, jangle, and other sorts of pop during the merry mo. o' May of this year. The full list of May 2018 discoveries (from which the playlist below is curated) is over at Playmoss. Hope you dig, groove, enjoy, &cetera.

A captcha from the Triptides vid.

Phwewwww, just in time do we post our 24 very favorite finds of powerpop, janglepop, psychpop, and otherpop from last month. In time for what? Good q.

You'll find the full list of April 2018 finds over at Playmoss, along with lots of other playlists of songs we love. Occasionally the Playmoss widget balks at playing a song, especially if it's imported from Bandcamp. If this happens, just click the Play arrow and things should groove. As always, we do hope you, too, find music to like or love.

And here's a song we loved that Playmoss would not accomodate.

Faves of the Faves - March 2018: Bromide, Michael Simmons, Wyatt Blair, The Well Wishers, Bad Moves, Be Like Pablo, K7s, The Lazy Lies, GRDNS, The Orange Kyte, Black Lizard, The Kumari, Parliamo, ta toy boy, Starman Jr., Boys Forever, Jo Passed, The Love-Birds, Ama, Nick Eng, Jack Perrett, The Color Waves

Posted below are our very favorite powerpop, indiepop, janglepop, psychpop, whateverpop songs found during the month of March. For some reason, Playmoss didn't digest all the information about some of the songs, so we're providing it just above the widget. If either of the two Bandcamp songs don't immediately play, click the play arrow to activate. Click if you'd like to hear the full March 2018 playlist at Playmoss. We do hope you'll find some songs to like.

#2 - Michael Simmons - No More Girls
#7 - K7s - Listen to My Heart
#8 - K7s - It's the CIA
#12 - The Orange Kyte - Anti-Establishment Haircut
#18 -  Boys Forever - If You Don't Mind

Playmoss and SoundCloud just aren't "gettin' it on" anymore, so here are two more songs we'd like to include.
