Music of the Sphere: White Fence - Hard Water

Just found/why wait?
Thanks, Rollo. You, too, Grady.

Colour Me Wednesday on . . . Yessssss!

Woo and hoo, right day this time, although we stick by our previous assertion that any dotw is right for listening to this terrific Hillingdon houtfit. We've been enjoying "Purge Your Inner Tory" for a couple of years now and just came across a pleaser we missed June a year ago. Click through to that previous post to hear/download "Tory" and gain passage to lots of sites to read and listen at. We really enjoyed their frequently-asked answers and are particularly intrigued by the revelation that "Yes, we all have nice boobies . . .," especially considering their excellent drummer is male. Something in the Thames?

From The Active Listener: House of Fire, Rainy Afternoons, Mark Alan Lofgren, Shadow Folk, Coloured Clocks, Galileo 7, Roaring 420s, Frantic Chant

Apparently old (or young) Nathan Ford does more posts and label stuff eating his corn flakes than we do in a month of pseudobloggery. Yes, it's the latest installment - #22 by number - of The Active Listener's excellent compilation series. Here are our favorites from a particularly high-class comp. And as always, we thank Master Nathan Ford for his ever-abundant thoughtfulness, generosity, and psychspertise.

And at the risk of further highlighting our personal bloggerly inactivity (except over/up there in Songdrop Playmoss, where we've been dropping like flies in a Raid raid), here are some we shoulda but didna post here previously. (It is, btw, a risk we are somewhat willing to take.)

Here is the second, excellent, free and legal single from Raleigh, N.C.'s The Rosebuds' forthcoming sixth LP, Sand+Silence, due to bloom on August 5. You can get the first single+other Western Vinyl releases for free at the WV SoundCloud page. Read+view more at Facebook.

The Raveonettes' New Sisters

We're darned excited to have just received an email from dynamic Danish duo The Raveonettes announcing a new freely downloadable song and forthcoming (September) U. S. tour. The former is below. It might help you decide about the latter. Click here to visit them at Facebook.

Just in Time: The Kickstand Band

Yep, just 13 days short of

Not too long ago (okay, early last year) we enjoyed posting an excellent song by Detroit's The Kickstand Band (klicky klicky). Had we been better attuned, we would have noticed that about a year ago they put out an excellent little EP, appropriately called Summer Means Fun. Our two faves are "Promenade" and the title cut. You can probably figure out how to get the rest.

And here's that first one we posted. (The other's still available at our previous post.) We still get a kick from that doggone pic.

eMusic pppurcha$e$ - Second Quarter 2014

Yes, here 'tis, the "feature" you've (singular) been waiting for: our cash-based grabs of powerpop, indiepop, shoegaze, psych, garage, etc., tunes at eMusic during April, May, and June of this year. We've been finding that Songdrop app to the (upper) right a helpful reminderer of stuff we'd like to buy. Click here to see our list. Happy hunting.

DoublePlusGood Live Up to Their Name

We soar yet remained pleasantly grounded and centered and such by The Brothers Kite-ish feelings this Portland trio induces. That makes little sense without the music, so go ahead and seehearfeel for yourself. Sample and read more herehere, and here. That download arrow means you can, you know, do it.
